In Xainza County, deep within the Changtang grassland of northern Xizang, a three-tiered forest and grassland stewardship system has been established, along with a comprehensive ecological monitoring network — bringing over one-third of the county’s land area under protection. Populations of rare wildlife such as the black-necked crane and Tibetan antelope have grown significantly, while the snow leopard population is steadily recovering. The local government has also implemented compensation schemes for wildlife-related damage, and herders are increasingly embracing ecological conservation — achieving a win-win situation for both the environment and local livelihoods.
